Frequently asked questions

How long do lash extensions last?

With proper at home care, the adhesive will last anywhere from 6-8 weeks. However, you do lose 3-5 natural lashes everyday so after an average of 2-3 weeks, most clients will want to come in for a "touch up" to keep their lashes looking full. There are many factors that could affect the retention of your extensions including improper home care, not cleaning the lash line, oily eyelids, the use of oil based products on or around the eyeline, medications, allergies, thyroid or hormonal issues, lifestyle, seasonal changes, a natural heavy lash shed, and so much more. If you do run into an issue with your retention, please contact us so we can troubleshoot and discuss next steps.

What are the lashes made of?

A lightweight, flexible plastic that holds its curl and is shaped like a real, natural lash.

Are there different curls, lengths, and colors?

Yes! When we style, we take in account your eye shape, face shape, natural lash health, and your desired look. We don't use lashes that are too heavy or long for your natural lash to support. We carry different colors, please let us know what you have in mind!

How long is the appointment?

For new clients, plan up to 2.5 hours for your full classic set appointment which includes time to sign forms and a consultation. Touch ups can take 1.5 hours-2 hours, depending if you select a 1-2 week or a 3-4 week appointment. If a removal is required, please notify in advance because that can add extra time to the appointment. If you are wearing makeup to the appointment, this will also add extra time as we need to get the lashes squeaky clean before lash application can begin. Please park accordingly and make sure your meter is filled if you're driving here.

But that's a long time to lay still, what am I supposed to do?

Lay back, relax, and take a nice lash nap! If that's not your thing, we welcome you to BYOEB (bring your own earbuds) and you can listen to a podcast, audio book or music on your phone to help you relax.

What if I have to use the bathroom during the service?

We strongly recommend using it before because during the service will cut into lashing time.

Will lash extensions damage my natural lashes?

When properly applied and cared for, lash extensions can be worn for a long time without damage to the natural lash.

What are the benefits of lash extensions?

They're time savers! For all you busy babes that can barely spare 10 minutes to fix your face, lash extensions are a Godsend. There's no need for mascara or even eyeliner. After a quick lash cleanse in the morning, you're good to go. Lash extensions can enhance your look in a very subtle (or dramatic) way, giving you that highly coveted je ne sais quoi factor!

Ok I want in! Give me lush, beautiful lashes! How do I prepare for the appointment?

Come in with makeup free, clean eyes. Your appointment includes a lash bath but any additional makeup or debris that needs to be removed may take up additional time that could be used towards adding lashes. No caffeine before the appointment because we want you to be as relaxed as possible. Fluttery eyes make it hard to conduct the service.

How do I take care of them?

Brush and clean daily! Wait 24 hours before getting them wet, which means no shower, steam, sweat or tears, as long as you can help it! After that time has elapsed, cleanse them at least 2x a day, even if not wearing makeup. Your goal is to keep the extensions oil and sweat free which will help the retention and prevent bacteria growth (ew). Brush through them to keep them fluffy and lint free. Try to sleep on your back, as sleeping on your side can cause lash loss because of friction with the pillow. Lots to remember but if you forget, don't worry, we have aftercare cards. You're livin' the lash life now, baby!

What are lash extensions?

Oh just one of the best beauty innovations created! They are enhancements applied to your natural lashes that can replicate the look of mascara and eyeliner (which means less makeup that you have to apply in the morning). A full classic set means one lash extension is applied individually to one natural lash. We will work with as many natural lashes as we can. The goal is to cover 90-95% percent of the natural lashes. We hold the natural lash health to a high regard so that means we will not use lash extensions that are too heavy for the natural lash to support.

Ok but why do I NEED them?

*You're a busy mom, dry shampoo is your best friend, and you barely have 5 minutes to put makeup on in the morning. *You're a busy nurse that loves her job and works long hours, leaving little to no time to get ready and you also want to make a lasting impression when you wink at your patients ;) *You're a busy working woman, in and out of meetings, reading and responding to e-mails, who barely has time for lunch, let alone can spare a minute to apply a little more than tinted moisturizer *You're a busy retiree that loves yoga, gardening, shopping, traveling, her dogs, and would rather spend less time fussing with makeup *You're in a funk and just need a little something to put an extra pep in your step and unleash your inner Beyonce unleashing her inner Sasha Fierce *You want in on the effortless beauty trend, the lazy chic look, and just wake up and go!

Ummm wait, I showed you a picture of Kim K. but I look more like Rob K., what gives?

You're welcome to bring any photos for reference. Please remember styling is customized & tailored for the client. Natural lash health also plays a big part in how the end result will look. The photo is to give an idea of how bold, natural, long, etc. We will work towards the desired look.

If you're not happy with the final product or are having any kind of issues, please notify Tat Lashes within 72 hours of the service and we'll do our best to fix the problem with a complimentary express touch up. Notice made after 72 hours may result in the booking of another full set or touch up and the client will be charged accordingly.
